Linking Firebase to Google Ads: Permissions Required

Understanding Firebase Roles

Firebase offers three primitive roles on IAM (Identity and Access Management) for managing permissions within a project. These roles are:

  • Viewer Role: This role is primarily for read-only actions, allowing the user to view information within the project.
  • Editor Role: In addition to the permissions of the Viewer role, the Editor role enables the user to make changes to the state and resources within the project.
  • Owner Role: The Owner role encompasses all permissions of the Editor role and provides additional management capabilities, including:
  1. Manage roles and permissions for a project and all resources within the project.
  2. Set up billing for a project.
  3. Delete or restore a project.

Therefore, in order for Kevin to successfully link his Firebase and Google Ads accounts, he will need to have the highest level of access with the Owner Role assigned to his Google Account.
